Prayagraj: An FIR has been registered against a person for attacking Uttar Pradesh cabinet minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from the City West assembly seat, Siddharth Nath Singh, on Thursday. Santosh Kumar Kushwaha, posted under Nath Singh’s personal security, lodged on Thursday night. The complaint states that Singh was leaving the central office in front of Mundera Mandi along with his workers to file nominations when a person named Himanshu Dubey took out a packet of sulphas and started shouting at around 12 noon.
According to the complaint, Himanshu Dubey attacked the minister by taking out a surgical blade with the other hand. The minister’s security guard, Kushwaha, who was present there, caught the accused and handed him over to the police. Anoop Singh, in-charge of Dhumanganj police station has registered a case against the accused under sections 284 and 307 of IPC. Meanwhile, Ajay Kumar, the senior superintendent of police of the district, had denied the news of an attack on the minister.
