The Kashmir Files, based on the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the Kashmir Valley in the 1990s, released in cinemas on Friday. Since its release, the film has received positive reviews from people who have watched it. Various reactions are coming about the film on social media.
In this, a video of LK Advani is going viral with the claim that he got emotional and cried while watching this film. However, this claim is false and the video going viral is actually old.
According to Hindustan Times, a similar post was shared on Facebook by a user named Ishwar Lal Chauhan. In this post, he wrote, “Seeing the film The Kashmir Files on Kashmiri Pandits, senior BJP leader LK Advani ji wept.”
The video shared with the post shows the veteran politician shedding tears while sitting in a theatre. The song Teri Mitti from the film Kesari is playing in the background of this clip. The post, shared on March 12, received over 1,000 reactions and was shared more than 400 times.
However, the claim that the video shows LK Advani getting emotional on the film The Kashmir Files is not true. The video is not really recent and was recorded in February 2020.
The Kashmir Files: Uttar Pradesh government also declared ‘The Kashmir Files’ tax-free, till now these 7 BJP ruled states have declared tax-free
A Google search revealed that the video was shared by filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra, when the BJP leader attended a special screening of the film Shikara: The Untold Story of Kashmiri Pandits.
Chopra shared the video on Instagram with a caption that read, “LK Advani at the special screening of Shikara. Sir, we are very humbled and grateful for your blessings and appreciation for the film.”
In fact, Chopra himself is also seen in the video, who is seen consoling Advani during that time. Therefore, the claim that LK Advani cried while watching The Kashmir Files movie is false.
