Earthquake today Delhi । The earthquake once again shook the nation’s capital Delhi. The intensity of this earthquake in western Delhi was measured at 2.8 on the Richter scale. According to the National Center for Seismology, the epicenter of this very low-intensity earthquake was in western Delhi. The epicenter of the earthquake was 2.8–8 km northwest of New Delhi. Earlier, on 26 January, tremors were felt in South-West Delhi with an intensity of 1.9.
An earthquake of similar intensity occurred in southwest Delhi on 22 January. According to a report, about 51 major minor earthquakes were recorded in Delhi and its surrounding areas last year. There was a 2.3 magnitude earthquake in Delhi on Christmas. Before that there was a 4.2 magnitude earthquake on 17 December, although no damage was reported in this earthquake.
Following the earthquakes that occurred last year, the NCS has started a geophysical survey in Delhi-NCR. Will analyze satellite photos and geological field probes to find out the shortcomings of the Earth’s surface. Both these surveys are expected to be completed by 31 March. 11 temporary additional stations have been deployed to ascertain the exact sources of earthquake and their tremors.
An official of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said that people would be able to use emergency number 112 to seek help during any natural disaster in the next two years. NDMA is also working on introducing a system of alerting people in danger areas on time. A warning message will be given to the people in an automated manner using all mediums of communication such as SMS, mobile apps, radio and television.
