Mumbai: Anti Narcotics Cell (ANC) of Mumbai Police has launched a campaign against drug smugglers. 3 units of ANC raided 3 locations in the city. Drugs worth Rs 1 crore 21 lakh 40 thousand have been recovered from there. In this case 5 drug smugglers including a woman and a foreigner have been arrested.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Datta Nalawade said that the team of Police Inspector Lata Sutar, in-charge of Ghatkopar unit of ANC, raided a hideout in Bainganwadi of Govandi on a tip-off. One person was arrested from there. 1 kg 100 grams of charas worth Rs 33 lakh was recovered from him. He was identified as Masim Nuruzzama Khan alias Waseem Pila (33). After interrogating Wasim, the ANC team raided Islampura and Shanti Nagar in Bhiwandi and caught two drug smugglers.

They were identified as Sohail Shami Momen alias Sohenal Kanya (42) and Zubair Shoaib Sheikh alias Laden (41). 1 kg 200 grams of charas worth Rs 36 lakh was recovered from them. The police arrested all the three accused under the NTPS Act. Police investigation revealed that half a dozen cases were registered against the three accused at Shanti Nagar police station in Bhiwandi.
African supplies drugs in Mumbai
Similarly, in the second action, ANC’s Brandra unit raided a hideout near Navaswapna Co-Operative Society, Santa Cruz (East) Kalina and caught African citizen William Kakou (35). MDMA tablets (drug pills) worth 40 lakh 80 thousand rupees were recovered from him. During the interrogation of the police, it was revealed that the African national used to supply MDMA tablets in Mumbai.
Female drug smuggler arrested from Dharavi
The Worli unit of ANC took the third action at Balaji Nagar, 90 Ft Road, Dharavi. Caught a woman here. MD (Mephedrone) drugs worth Rs 2 lakh 60 thousand were recovered from him. The police arrested the woman under the NDPS Act. He has been identified as Aarti Ritesh Vasava (24).
