Mumbai: Resident doctors have started a strike in the state over the delay in PG NEET counselling. Due to this strike, about 100 non-emergency surgeries have been postponed in Mumbai itself. Apart from this, senior doctors had to go to look after the patients admitted in the ward. If the strike of doctors does not end, patients may have to face more problems in the coming days.
Resident doctors in Mumbai started a strike from Thursday afternoon. Only 2 doctors were taking the front in the emergency, some resident doctors present in Emergency Ward 4A of KEM Hospital were treating the patients, but the patients who needed admission were already being told that they should be admitted. But due to the strike of doctors, there will be no one to treat them in the ward as doctors are on strike. The same was the case with BMC and other hospitals under the government.

Patients and their families are facing a lot of difficulties. If this strike goes on for a long time, the poor patients will have more problems in the coming days. Dr. Mohan Joshi, Dean of Sion Hospital told that about 25 to 30 non-emergency surgeries were postponed in the hospital, senior doctors like Head of Department, Professor, Assistant Professor, Lecturer in OPD saw the patients. Certain services will of course be affected by the strike, but this has been done in the past and will continue to do so.
Hospitals are grappling with shortage of doctors due to non-availability of NEET PG counselling. We are also not happy to go on strike, patients should not face any problem, so emergency service is on. At the moment we are not withdrawing the strike. We have not been contacted by the government also.
