Nashik: At present, the police administration in Nashik city is being strict on the bike drivers for using helmets, but in the new year, the use of helmets is being strictly enforced. The use of helmets by two wheelers will now become mandatory with the provision of cancellation of driving license along with penal action.
Police Commissioner Deepak Pandey implemented various activities to force two wheelers to wear helmets in Nashik city. So far, on the orders of the Police Commissioner, ‘no helmet, no petrol’ and then two-wheeler drivers without helmet have been counseled for 2 hours. From 1st November to 22nd December, 7385 two-wheeler counseling was conducted, as well as 24 male and 5 female two-wheeler drivers died while driving without helmet from 15 August 2021 to 30 November 2021.

Any vehicle owner appearing without helmet from 18th January 2022 will have to undergo counseling workshop but will be fined Rs 500/- under Motor Vehicles Act under e-challan system. Along with this, action will be taken for suspension of license. Also, a new ordinance has been issued which states that unless a person without a helmet pays the fine, his vehicle will be in the possession of the police and only after paying the fine, his vehicle will be confiscated. Must be taken daily in different areas of Nashik city. Assistant Commissioner of Police, City Transport Sitaram Gaikwad has appealed to all the two wheeler drivers to follow the rules and use helmet while driving two wheeler for their safety and save their time in counselling.
