Nashik: The government has increased the number of councilors from 122 to 133. This will increase the number of 11 members. But this will increase the population of the ward and the ward will remain small. This may give some advantage to the contesting candidates. Nashik Municipal Corporation will have three members in 43 wards and one ward will have four members. On 29 November 2021, on the instructions of the Election Commission, the Municipal Administration has prepared a rough plan and sent it to the Election Commission. The commission has every right to make changes similar to the raw plan prepared and sent by the Nashik Municipal Administration.
This may allow the commission to change the locally prepared plan. It is being told that action is going on in this regard as well. Municipal commissioner Kailash Jadhav said two days ago that the February 2022 elections are likely to be postponed by a month or two due to the delay in the formation of wards. This has caused some dissatisfaction among the candidates. Meanwhile, this year the government has increased the number from 122 to 133. This will make the ward smaller, but the population will remain the same. City commissioner Jadhav said that new boards will be formed in some places but some changes have been made in the old boundaries and new ones.
