Nagpur. In view of the upcoming elections, the work of asphaltization of internal roads and streets is being done by the Municipal Corporation in almost all the settlements of the city. For the last 4 years, the poor condition of the streets was not paid much attention by the corporators, now the work of brightening those roads and streets before the election is being done unnecessarily. It is also understood by the citizens that elections are coming, then their problems are being addressed so that the corporators can show their faces to them seeking votes again.
However, in some settlements, only a few lanes are being asphalt and many are being left in poor condition. In some places, contractors have disappeared after asphaltizing only half the road. Such a view is visible in Mahalaxmi Nagar of Manewada area of South Nagpur. Here some lanes have been asphaltised and many lanes have been abandoned. One inner road has been made incomplete and only half of the road has been left asphalt. There is anger among citizens due to this discrimination.
crumbling streets
In Mahalaxmi Nagar-2, some of the streets from lane number 1 to 8 were asphaltised. After polishing 3-4 streets, the work has been stopped for a month or two, while the condition of all the streets is pathetic. The asphalt has eroded and potholes have also formed. The street number 8, which leads to the Jangde auditorium, has been glazed only up to 2 lanes from the direction of the auditorium. After that the entire street has been left unclaimed. About a month ago, half the road was asphalt and the work was stopped. Rain water collects in this street, due to which it has been badly damaged.
Excavator for meter and cable
Months ago, a new water meter was dug by the OCW in front of every house. At the same time, digging was also done for the installation of new poles and cables with LED lights. Excavations have made breakers in entire streets. When the asphaltization started, the citizens were hopeful that all the streets would be glazed but the contractors have disappeared leaving the work half-finished. Citizens have alleged discrimination due to the asphaltization of only a few streets in the entire settlement.
Citizens are waiting for the corporators to come home to seek votes so that they can vent their anger. Some citizens have accused the corporators of the division that after coming elected, they never came back to know about the problems and facilities of the settlement.
