Dehradun: Taking a jibe at the Congress, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday said that the party, which called Chief Defense Chief General Bipin Rawat a ‘gali ka goon’ when he was alive, is now putting his cut outs in its rallies for electoral gains.
At a program organized by Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha at Srinagar in Pauri district, the Chief Minister said, “How can we forget that the party which put up big cut-outs of General Rawat at its rally in Dehradun then called him a street goon. was when he was alive. The party should be ashamed of itself.” The country’s first Chief of Defense Staff, General Rawat, who was recently killed in a helicopter crash in Tamil Nadu along with his wife and 12 others, hailed from Sain village in Pauri district.
Dhami said that all the political parties, which were missing for the last four-and-a-half years, are now appearing to get votes from the people as the elections are approaching. He said that these parties have nothing to do with the people of the state, they have come back only for power. He said that as far as the youth are concerned, they have misled them in the past as well.
Hitting out at Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal for promising unemployment allowance to the youth if voted to power, Dhami said it was done only to bluff the youth. He said a similar promise was made by the Congress in 2017 when it distributed ‘Job Guarantee Cards’ to the youth in all the assembly constituencies but nothing came of it.
The Chief Minister said that whatever the Congress may say to woo the people, but people cannot forget that a man raising anti-India slogans is now in the same party while another party leader has compared Hindus with ISIS. Dhami was apparently referring to senior Congress leader Salman Khurshid’s book ‘Sunrise Over Ayodhya’.
Dhami claimed that the government of double engine has taken the real steps for the development of Uttarakhand. He said that all the departments have been asked to prepare a roadmap for the development of the state for the next 10 years.
