Delhi Weather Updates: In the month of March itself, the heat and heat of heat has started intensifying in many states of North India including the national capital Delhi. People have started feeling the heat of May-June in March itself. The Meteorological Department says that in such a situation, in the coming days, people will suffer more heat. Many states including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Haryana and Mumbai have already started receiving severe heat. The rising mercury of summer has started becoming a problem for the people.
The minimum temperature in the national capital on Tuesday was 18.8 degrees Celsius, a notch above normal. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the maximum temperature in Delhi on Monday was recorded at 39.1 degrees Celsius, seven notches above normal. The maximum temperature is expected to increase further in the coming days.
The maximum and minimum temperatures in Delhi are likely to be 40 and 22 degrees Celsius, respectively, on Wednesday. According to the data of the Central Pollution Control Board, the air quality in the city remained in the ‘poor’ category on Tuesday. The Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 272 at 9:15 am.
AQI between zero to 50 is ‘good’, 51 to 100 ‘satisfactory’, 101 to 200 ‘moderate’, 201 to 300 ‘poor’, 301 to 400 ‘very poor’ and 401 to 500. The middle AQI is considered ‘severe’.
Rain forecast in these states
IMD said that there is a possibility of very widespread rain with thunder/lightning/strong winds (40-50 kmph) in the northeast region during March 30 to April 1. Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh are also likely to receive heavy rains during the same period.
The Meteorological Department also said that there is a possibility of moderate rains over Kerala-Mahe, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal and Coastal and South Interior Karnataka during the next 5 days. According to the IMD, there is a possibility of thunder and lightning in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal and Lakshadweep on March 28 and 29.

IMD said that isolated heat wave conditions are very likely to continue over Jammu Division, Himachal Pradesh and Saurashtra and Kutch in Gujarat during next 2 days. West Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Rajasthan will also face heat wave conditions during the next 4-5 days.
During March 30 to April 1, heat wave conditions are likely to prevail over South Haryana, South Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, northern parts of East Madhya Pradesh, North Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada.
The IMD said that the maximum temperature in Maharashtra is likely to increase gradually by 2-3 degree Celsius during the next 5 days. According to the officials of the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of increasing heat in the month of March due to lack of rain.
