Pune: There is a protest against the sale of wine in the super market at every level. Now it is being opposed by the citizens of Pargaon Gram Panchayat of Daund taluka of Pune district. In view of the opposition of various business organizations, now the people of the Gram Panchayat have also started protesting against it. The Pargaon Panchayat of Daund taluka has also decided not to sell wine in the grocery stores of the village.
This decision was taken in the recently held online Gram Sabha. All the villagers have taken this decision unanimously. The surprising thing is that the leader of the Mahavikas Aghadi government is in the district and taluka.
Decision taken to save tradition
According to the information given by the villagers, since the establishment of the Gram Panchayat in Pargaon, permission has not been given for sale of any kind of liquor. This tradition has been going on since last many years. The villagers are opposing the decision taken by the state government to sell liquor in the super market. This decision was taken recently in the Gram Sabha regarding this. The proposal of wine ban taken in the Gram Sabha was put up by Botre, former Sarpanch of Pargaon and its sarpanch Jayshree Takwane, former chairman of Purchase and Sale Association Subhash Botre, Director of Bhima Pats Tukaram Takwane, former President of Tantamukti Sanjay Takwane approved.
