Cyclone Asani Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning regarding Cyclone Asani. The Meteorological Department has said that a low pressure area has formed over the southeast Bay of Bengal, which is likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm by March 21. The IMD has further said in its bulletin that the low pressure area that formed over the southeast Bay of Bengal on Tuesday. Will reach Andaman and Nicobar Islands by 20 March.
It is expected to move northwards from Andaman and Nicobar. It is very likely to become a deep depression during the next 24 hours and into a cyclonic storm in the subsequent 12 hours. Due to cyclonic easing, there is a possibility of heavy rain in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands for the next two days. Along with this, strong winds are expected.
People living off the coast of Andaman and Nicobar Islands have been evacuated. Along with this, fishermen have been advised not to go to the seashore.

March 20 – Heavy to very heavy rain is very likely at some places over Andaman and Nicobar Islands. With this, light to moderate rain and thundershowers are likely in most areas.
March 21 – Light to moderate rain and thundershowers are likely to occur over most parts of Andaman and Nicobar Islands on March 21 as well. Not only this, there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy in some different areas. There may also be light rain in some areas.

wind warning
March 20 – Strong wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph is very likely over Andaman and Nicobar Islands Sea and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal. Gradually the speed of these winds can increase from 45-55 kmph to 65 kmph.
March 21 – In the morning of March 21, wind speed can reach 55-65 kmph and it can reach 75 kmph. Later the wind speed may increase. Wind speed reaching 65-75 kmph gusting to 85 kmph. At the same time, on March 22, there may be a strong wind speed.
How will the situation be by the sea
On March 22, the sea conditions are very likely to remain very rough along the Andaman and Nicobar Islands Sea and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal. Such fishermen have been advised not to go to the sea shore.
