CWC meeting called on the demand of G23 leaders
The CWC meeting is being held in the backdrop of several leaders leaving the party in recent months, demanding dialogue within the party by leaders of the “G 23” group of the Congress.
Recently, senior Congress leaders Ghulam Nabi Azad and Kapil Sibal had demanded to convene a meeting of the CWC. Azad had written a letter to Sonia Gandhi urging her to convene an immediate meeting of the Congress Working Committee to discuss matters related to the party.
Sibal had also raised questions on the party leadership in the recent days amid the ruckus in the party’s Punjab unit and said that a meeting of the Congress Working Committee should be called to discuss the situation and organizational elections should be held.
