Most cases of violation of the right to live with dignity
- In the last year 2021, about 30864 complaints were filed by women, in which the maximum number of cases were of violation of the right to live with dignity i.e. emotional abuse of women. 11013 complaints were received with the Women’s Commission regarding this. After this, the maximum number of 6633 cases of domestic violence and after this the maximum 4589 cases of dowry harassment were registered.
- The maximum number of complaints came from Uttar Pradesh, the most populous state in the country. Women from UP filed 15828 complaints. UP was followed by 3336 complaints from Delhi, 1504 from Maharashtra, 1460 from Haryana and 1456 from Bihar.
- According to the data, last year 1819 complaints were registered for molestation, 1675 complaints of rape or attempt, 1537 complaints of police apathy and 858 complaints of cybercrime.

According to the data released by the Women’s Commission, more than 3100 complaints were received between July and September last year. On the increase in complaints, Women’s Commission chief Rekha Sharma had earlier said that people are constantly being made aware about this, due to which more and more cases are coming to the fore. Sharma said that the facility of filing complaints was started at any time to enable women to register their complaints easily.
