Covid Vaccination for Children: Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on 25 December that the corona vaccine would be administered to children between the ages of 15 and 18 from January 3. The Center has also fixed guidelines for the vaccination campaign. The registration for this will start in the new year i.e. from January 1. According to the guidelines of the Ministry of Health, only children in the age group of 15 to 18 years will be given Covaccine. Bharat Biotech submitted data from Phase 3 clinical trials in the age group of 2-18 years to the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization. The committee then recommended the approval of Covaccine for emergency use for children aged 12-18 years, subject to certain conditions.

All those children whose age is 15 years or more will be able to register themselves on Co-WIN. Therefore, anyone born on or after 2007 on the date of vaccination will be eligible for the COVID vaccine.
For this, registration can be done through the existing Co-WIN platform in the same way as it was done for adults above 18 years of age. Parents of children can book slots for them through their existing Co-Win platform from January 1. The government has not yet clarified what documents will be required to book slots for eligible children.
However, children have been allowed to use their student ID card for registration. In such a situation, those children have got relief who do not have Aadhaar or any other certificate to prove their identity. Such children will also be able to register through student ID card. In addition, eligible people can register themselves on the site through the verifier/vaccinator in the Facilitated Registration Mode. Appointment can be booked onsite.

All eligible children are entitled to free vaccination at government immunization centres. However, people who get vaccinated in private hospitals will have to pay. Meanwhile, in the US, regulators have approved Pfizer’s vaccine to vaccinate young children.
