The Union Health Ministry on Friday announced to make available the pre-caution or booster dose of the Covid-19 vaccine to all people above the age of 18 years at private vaccination centers from April 10. The ministry said that all such people above the age of 18 years, who have been given the second dose of the vaccine for nine months, can also get a booster dose.
“It has been decided that precaution doses of Covid-19 will be made available to people above 18 years of age in private vaccination centres. This facility will be available in all private immunization centres,” the health ministry said.
Vaccination figures in the country
According to the Ministry of Health, about 96 percent of people over 15 years of age in India have received at least one dose of the vaccine, while about 83 percent have received both.
The ministry said that more than 2.4 crore precaution doses have also been given to health workers, front line workers and people above 60 years of age. In addition, 45 per cent of the beneficiaries aged 12-14 years have received the first dose.
