COVID-19 4th Wave: Many countries in Asia and Europe are seeing a huge jump in the number of new cases of corona virus daily since last week. The worst situation remains in South Korea and Germany. A sub-variant of Omicron is believed to be the reason behind the rapidly increasing cases of corona. A new sub-variant, the Stealth Omicron, also known as the BA.2 has surfaced.
Omicron’s sub-variant BA.2 has led to a huge increase in corona cases in Europe. If we talk about India, there is a huge drop in corona cases at present, but experts have already warned that the fourth wave of corona may come in the country.
Center alerts the states
The Center last week alerted states to take precautionary measures to prevent the fourth wave of corona after cases of Omicron BA.2 increased in parts of Asia and Europe. Maharashtra is already on alert.

The Center has advised the States and Union Territories to continue to focus on strategy five times more than before, which includes testing, treatment, vaccination and adherence to corona appropriate behaviour. The Center has also asked the states and union territories to ensure that adequate number of samples are submitted to the INSACOG network through sentinel sites as per protocol.
Characteristics of Omicron BA.2
Recently, a recent study by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur said that it is possible that the fourth wave of the COVID-19 epidemic may start from June 22 and last till mid-August. IIT Kanpur researcher S. The study by Prasad Rajesh Bhai, Shubhra Shankar Dhar and Shalabh said that it is possible that the new variants of the virus will have a wider impact.
The worrying thing is that even its symptoms are surprising. In case of any variant of corona virus you may feel stomach related symptoms but in Omicron BA.2 you may face bowel related problems. Patients suffering from Omicron BA.2 may experience symptoms such as nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal pain, burning sensation in the abdomen and bloating.
Expert dismissed the possibility of fourth wave
However, many scientists say that the forecast of the arrival of the fourth wave may be a speculation. Allaying fears that the cases of COVID-19 will pick up again in the next three months, he said that most of the people in India have received both the doses of the vaccine and once they have been infected naturally. So even if the wave does come, the consequences in terms of hospitalizations and deaths will be manageable, provided no new variants of the virus are introduced.
Professor Sitabhara Sinha of Chennai-based Institute of Mathematical Sciences (IMSC) said that the number of active patients is decreasing rapidly and looking at the current situation, we cannot definitely say about a new wave in the future. At the same time, Menon, a professor in the Department of Physics and Biology at Ashoka University, Haryana, told PTI that I do not trust any such forecast, especially when the date and time are given.
He said that we cannot make any predictions about the future, as the likely new variant to come is unknown. We can, however, remain vigilant and collect data rapidly so that effective and swift action can be taken. Health expert Bhramar Mukherjee also agreed, saying that the forecast data made by IIT Kanpur is astrology and not statistics.
