Pimpri : Although the general elections of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation have not been announced yet, but the political corridors of the city have started to feel quake. The party has suffered a major setback in the Bhosari Assembly Constituency area, which is considered the stronghold of BJP and especially the party’s city president and MLA Mahesh Landge. BJP corporator Vasant Borate, who resigned from the post of corporator on the previous day, has joined the Nationalist Congress within 24 hours from the Moshi Jadhavwadi complex. Against the backdrop of the upcoming municipal elections, this is considered a major setback for the MLA Landge.
There was a stir in the political corridors of Pimpri Chinchwad yesterday when Vasant Borate, the corporator of the ruling BJP of the Municipal Corporation, resigned from his post. Before the BJP could recover from this shock, he joined the Nationalist Congress within 24 hours. Borate entered the Nationalist on Thursday morning in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in Mumbai. The new lady president Kavita Aalhat has played an important role in her entry. On this occasion, newly appointed President of Nationalist Congress Ajit Gawane, Chief Spokesperson Coordinator Yogesh Behl, newly appointed Women President Kavita Aalhat, Corporator Mayur Kalate, Aatish Barne, social activists Pradeep Aher, Vishal Aher etc. were present.

Earlier, independent corporator Kailas Barne, who was associated with BJP, BJP corporator Chanda Lokhande’s husband and former corporator Raju Rama Lokhande, corporator Maya Barne’s husband and former corporator Santosh Barne have joined the nationalist. The other remaining corporators are in the role of ‘wait and watch’ to avoid being banned from contesting elections under the anti-defection law. BJP MLA Laxman, who has joined the nationalist till now, has been a staunch supporter of Jagtap. The number of corporators supporting MLA Mahesh Landge, who was preparing to join the nationalist, is being told more than 10. Earlier, along with corporator Ravi Landge from Bhosari assembly constituency, Sanjay Newale and other corporators have raised the flag of rebellion. However, the joining of corporator Vasant Borate, who was now a supporter of MLA Landge, is believed to be a dent in the MLA’s stronghold. Now it will be interesting to see how MLA Landge compensates for this?
