There have been 62,714 new cases of corona virus in India. This is the highest increase in the number of cases in a single day this year. With this, the number of COVID-19 cases has reached 1,19,71,624 across the country. This is according to the updated data by the Union Health Ministry on Sunday. With the increase for the 18th consecutive day, the number of active cases has increased to 4,86,310, which is 4.06 percent of the total infections. While the recovery rate further fell to 94.58 per cent.
Highest case after 16 October 2020
According to the data at 8 am, 62,714 new cases were reported during 24 hours, which is the highest after 16 October 2020. While the number of deaths has increased to 1,61,552, including 312 new deaths. These are the highest in nearly three months. 312 deaths in a single day are the highest since 25 December 2020, when 336 deaths occurred.
According to the data, on October 16, 63,371 new cases were reported during 24 hours. The number of people recovering from the disease increased to 1,13,23,762. Whereas, the death rate in cases is at 1.35 per cent.
The number of cases of COVID-19 in India crossed the 1 million mark on 7 August. The cases had crossed 30 lakhs on 23 August and 40 lakh on 5 September. On September 16, the cases have gone beyond 50 lakhs. The number of cases has gone up to 60 lakhs on 28 September, 80 lakhs on 29 October, 90 lakhs on 20 November and one crore on 19 December.
