Pimpri: Along with the new variant Omicron, the number of corona patients in Pimpri-Chinchwad city is increasing tremendously for the last few days. The rapidly increasing figures of infected daily are increasing the concern. If the number of patients keeps increasing in this way, then it will not take long to create a disastrous situation. On this background, preparations have been started to reopen Jumbo Covid Hospital located at Annasaheb Magar Sports Complex, Pimpri Nehrunagar with 800 beds from January 15. It will have 600 oxygen beds and 200 ICU beds. 10 crore 14 lakh rupees will be spent on this hospital for a period of two months.
A Jumbo Covid Hospital was set up at Annasaheb Magar Sports Complex in Nehrunagar by the Pune Municipal Corporation Area Development Authority (PMRDA) after the first round of Corona outbreak in July 2020. Jumbo COVID Hospital was closed on 16th January, 2021 due to decrease in the number of corona cases.
Corona infection is increasing
Jumbo Hospital was reopened in February last year after the number of patients again increased due to the second wave of corona infections. On 15 September 2021, Jumbo Hospital was closed again after the number of corona patients decreased. Now the third wave of corona infection is being seen once again in Pimpri-Chinchwad city. The number of infected people is increasing day by day.

In this background, Municipal Commissioner Rajesh Patil held a meeting on 4 January. In this meeting, it has been decided to reopen Jumbo COVID Hospital from January 15. The number of beds in this Jumbo COVID Hospital will be kept at 800. It will have 600 beds with oxygen and 200 beds with ICU. For this, manpower will be procured from the lowest bidder Medbroz Healthcare Diagnostic Center in the tender issued earlier by PMRDA. In a period of two months from January 15 to March 14, 2022, 4 crore 97 lakh will be spent on oxygen beds and 5 crore 17 lakh on ICU beds and Rs 10 crore 14 lakh will be spent. For this, Medbroz Healthcare will be ordered in phases.
