The threat of corona virus epidemic is not averted from the whole world yet. Its new variants are knocking. Now again the corona virus epidemic has increased the tension of the whole world. A new variant of the corona virus XE has knocked. WHO has said that this new variant is 10 times more infectious than Omicron BA.2. This means that it spreads 43 percent faster than the original variant of Omicron. Explain that the XE variant is composed (recombinant strain) of two sublineages BA.1 and BA.2 of Omicron.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has expressed concern about this. The WHO says that the BA.2 sub-variant has now become the world’s biggest concern, accounting for about 86 percent of the number of sequenced cases.
The recombinant strain of BA.1 and BA.2 is XE
A study by the British Health Security Agency (HAS) of Britain has shown that there are currently 3 hybrid COVID variants running. It has two different variants XD and XF born out of the combination of Delta and BA.1 while the third one is XE. According to the report, the XE variant is a recombinant strain of two sublineages BA.1 and BA.2 of the old Omicron. However, the WHO has said in its recent report that until a significant change in the transmission and disease behavior of the XE variant is seen, it will be seen by linking it to the Omicron variant itself.

The first case was found in Britain
The first case of Omicron’s XE variant was found in the UK on 19 January. Since then more than 600 cases of this variant have been reported. Apart from this, this variant has also been found in France, Denmark and Belgium. According to the HAS, there is not enough evidence to draw conclusions about the infectivity and severity of the XE variant. Therefore, whether the vaccine will work on this variant or not, it is not yet known.
How dangerous is the recombinant variant
The WHO said in the report that it will continue to monitor the dangers of recombinant variants such as XE and will update the evidence related to it. Apart from the XE, WHO is also eyeing another recombinant variant, the XD, which is a hybrid of Delta and Omicron. Most of its cases have been found in France, Denmark and Belgium.
