According to the updated data of the ministry at 8 am, 1,59,632 new cases of corona virus infection were reported in the last 24 hours, which is the highest daily cases reported in the last 224 days. The number of patients under treatment in the country has increased to 5,90,611, which is the highest in about 197 days. After the death of 327 people in the country in the last 24 hours, the death toll has increased to 4,83,790. Out of 3,623 cases of Omicron, 1,409 people have either migrated out of the country or have recovered.

Maharashtra had the highest number of 1,009 cases of Omicron. After this, 513 cases were reported in Delhi, 441 in Karnataka, 373 in Rajasthan, 333 in Kerala and 204 in Gujarat. Earlier on May 29 last year, 1,65,553 cases of infection were reported in the country. The Ministry said that the number of patients under treatment for COVID-19 has increased to 5,90,611 which is 1.66 percent of the total cases of infection. The national rate of people recovering from COVID-19 has come down to 96.98 percent.
There has been an increase of 1,18,442 cases in the number of people undergoing treatment for the infection in the last 24 hours. The number of infected in the country had exceeded 20 lakh on 7 August 2020, 30 lakh on 23 August 2020 and 40 lakh on 5 September 2020. At the same time, the total cases of infection crossed 50 lakh on 16 September 2020, 60 lakh on 28 September 2020, 70 lakh on 11 October 2020, 80 lakh on 29 October 2020 and 90 lakh on 20 November. In the country, on 19 December 2020, these cases crossed one crore, on May 4 last year the number of infected crossed 20 million and on 23 June 2021, it crossed 30 million.
