new Delhi: After 6,915 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in India in a day, the total number of corona virus infected in the country has increased to 4,29,31,045. At the same time, the number of patients under treatment came down to one lakh after 60 days. According to the updated data of the Union Health Ministry at 8 am on Tuesday, the total death toll increased to 5,14,023 after 180 more people died in the last 24 hours.
At present 92,472 people are undergoing treatment for corona virus infection in the country, which is 0.22 percent of the total cases. In the last 24 hours, there was a decrease in the number of patients under treatment by 10,129. The national recovery rate of patients has increased to 98.59 percent. As per the updated data, the daily rate of infection was recorded at 0.77 per cent and the weekly rate at 1.11 per cent. So far, a total of 4,23,24,550 people have become infection free in the country and the death rate from COVID-19 is 1.20 percent. At the same time, more than 177.70 crore doses of anti-Covid-19 vaccines have been given so far under the nationwide vaccination campaign.

It is noteworthy that on August 7, 2020, the number of infected in the country had exceeded 20 lakhs, on August 23, 2020, 30 lakhs and on September 5, 2020, more than 40 lakhs. The total cases of infection crossed 50 lakhs on September 16, 2020, 60 lakhs on September 28, 2020, 70 lakhs on October 11, 2020, 80 lakhs on October 29, 2020 and 90 lakhs on November 20. On December 19, 2020, these cases had crossed one crore in the country. Last year, on May 4, the number of infected had crossed 20 million and on June 23, 2021, it crossed 30 million. On January 26 this year, the cases crossed four crores. According to the data of the ministry, 180 cases of death due to infection were reported in the country in the last 24 hours. Of these 110 cases were reported in Kerala and 20 in Goa.

The Health Ministry said that out of those who have died due to corona virus infection so far, more than 70 percent of the patients also had other diseases. The ministry said on its website that its data is being matched with the data of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).
