Mumbai : Congress State President Nana Patole has accused the BJP of doing politics by pushing the state into darkness. He said that despite the deteriorating economic condition of Mahavitaran, BJP leaders are appealing to farmers and people of rural areas not to pay electricity bills. If the consumers do not pay the electricity bills, then in the coming days there may be darkness in the entire state.
State Congress President Patole attacked the BJP leaders fiercely over the arrears of electricity bills. He said that during the BJP government there was a lot of looting in the electricity department. Talking to reporters in Mumbai, Patole said that since the formation of Maha Vikas Aghadi government in the state, Energy Minister Nitin Raut is trying to get Mahavitaran and Energy Department back on its feet. He has repeatedly said that if the backlog of MSEDCL’s electricity bills is not completed, the entire state will go into darkness. Patole claimed that BJP leaders are asking farmers not to pay their existing electricity bills.

He said that Leader of the Opposition Devendra Fadnavis had announced to waive off the bills of agricultural pumps in 2017. On the other hand, due to drought in 2017, 2018 and 2019, no bills were sent to the farmers. Mahavitaran is asking farmers and people of rural areas to pay their current electricity bills, but BJP leaders are asking them not to pay any bills. Patole said that we guarantee that if farmers pay Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,000 for the current electricity bill, their connection will not be cut.
Instructions not to give loans to institutions facing financial crisis
Congress President Patole said that the financial condition of MSEDCL is very weak. Energy Minister Nitin Raut has sent a letter to the Chief Minister saying that this is a serious matter for the state. The situation of MSEDCL has become critical due to the lockdown and electricity bill arrears during the Corona period. On the other hand, the central government has directed the Reserve Bank and financial institutions not to give loans to institutions facing financial crisis. Therefore, the option of running the business by taking loans has also been closed.
