Wardha. Many welfare schemes have been prepared for the unorganized workers, especially the rural and agricultural workers. MP Ramdas Tadas presented a question in the Lok Sabha regarding social security, about how many workers got the benefit. Responding to this, the Union Minister of State for Labor and Employment, Rameshwar Teli, responded to the government’s commitment to provide social security to the unorganized workers.
MP Ramdas Tadas presented the issue under Unstarred Question No. 2926 in the Lok Sabha regarding the safety of farm laborers working in the unorganized sector. Responding to the question raised by MP Tadas, Union Minister of State for Labor and Employment, Rameshwar Teli said that, through the Unorganized Workers Social Security Act 2008, attention is being paid towards social security benefits for the workers of the unorganized sector. Benefits are being given by preparing welfare schemes like life and handicap armor, health and maternity benefits, old age protection etc. Life and Divyang security is provided by PM Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, PM Suraksha Bima Yojana. Health and Maternity Benefit is a universal health scheme provided by Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Swasthya Yojana.
Fund distribution over 3 years
In the last three years, funds of 1849.55 crores in the year 2018-19, 2992.95 crores in the year 2019-20 and 2544.12 crores in the year 2020-21 were given to the states and union territories as the central share of the premium. Under Shram Yogi Maan-Dhan Pension Scheme, 50 monthly contribution is payable by the beneficiary.
Miscellaneous undertakings being run
The government has taken up various undertakings to take the benefits of social security schemes to the unorganized workers. Under the National Food Security Act, Public Distribution System, Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, Deendayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushal Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Garib Kalyan Rozgar Yojana, Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana, PM-Svanidhi, Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana are implemented.
More than 26 crore registrations on e-shram portal
A total of more than 26 crore workers have registered under the e-shram portal. Union Minister of State for Labor and Employment, Rameshwar Teli gave information about the registration of 13.80 crore workers including 59.16 lakh agricultural laborers from Maharashtra state.
