Durgapur: The work of carrying coal from Wakoli Durgapur to CTPS by two ropeway trolleys has started from last 35 to 40 years. Both the above mentioned ropeway trolleys have become very old and due to its old system, it is proving insufficient to prevent coal dust from flying. Due to this, 10 thousand people living up to two kilometers nearby are being badly affected.
The hoarse sound of the two ropeway trolley moving and the flying dust of coal is making the residents sleepless both during the day and at night. Due to this the problem of many diseases like heart, skin, eye, asthma, TB increased. Anyway the ropeway trolley is out dated. Due to this, the ropeway trolley often gets damaged, due to which there is a high cost of maintenance.
In view of the hoarse sound caused by the movement of both the old trolleys and the loss of thousands of people due to flying black dust, the Gram Panchayat Urjanagar has also passed a proposal to remove both the ropeway trolleys in the general meeting of 23 November 2021 on the demand of the people. But the CTPS management is turning a blind eye from this side.
Durgapur Urjanagar Sangharsh Samiti requested
Durgapur Urjanagar Sangharsh Samiti has requested the Chief Engineer of CTPS to close the LT bunker (ropeway) to prevent dust, air and noise pollution caused by two ropeway trolleys. The copy of which was given to the District Magistrate, Maharashtra State Pollution Control Board, General Manager of Wakoli and Gram Panchayat Urjanagar. Along with this, a demand was made to stop the ropeway trolley by giving a request to former foster minister and area MLA Sudhir Mungantiwar.
Sudhir Mungantiwar has assured that I will try my best. A copy of the request and a video clip of the dust flying off the ropeway trolley has been sent to MP Suresh Dhanorkar. MP Dhanorkar has also demanded additional papers and video clips to raise the issue at an appropriate forum.
State Environment Minister Aaditya Thackeray is on a visit to Chandrapur on Sunday, during which a memorandum will also be handed over to him by Durgapur Urjanagar Sangharsh Samiti. The effort is that if the ropeway trolley can be removed through any party, leader and minister, Durgapur Urjanagar will be benefited.
Request given with signature of 133 people
In the request, Chief Convener of Sangharsh Samiti, Balu Chandekar, Munna Awale, Pvt. Signature requests of 133 people including Shalik Phale, former sarpanch Devdas Ramteke, Shailesh Shende, Kishore Awale were given to all the officials concerned and public representatives and further to the foster minister and minister.
Balu Chandekar and Munna Awale, the chief office bearers of the Sangharsh Samiti, said that the way the public representatives have given assurances, it seems that the decision to stop the ropeway trolley will be taken soon. Because this will not only save thousands of citizens of the village from dust and noise pollution, it will also benefit Wakoli Durgapur and CTPS in other ways. Still, if the decision to remove the ropeway was not taken departmentally, the Durgapur-Urjanagar Sangharsh Samiti, along with the villagers, has warned of intense agitation.
