Lucknow. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday accused the previous governments of the state of making police a thing of personal use during their respective regimes and claimed that his government has taken steps towards police reforms. Concrete work done.
Presenting the account of his government’s five-year tenure at a press conference here, the Chief Minister said, “Previous governments failed to bring about police reforms as they wanted to misuse the police by making them their personal tool. The BJP government did nothing in police reforms. We have created four police commissionerates. Residential arrangements have been made for police personnel in every police station and police line.”
“Earlier, recruitments in the police force could not take place due to the ruling party making the police an agenda for their personal interests. But the BJP government has recruited about 1.5 lakh police posts with complete transparency. Apart from this 86,000 policemen were pending promotion which has been given to them. Police have been equipped with state-of-the-art facilities using technology.
The Chief Minister said that women have been given a fair share in the police during the BJP rule. He claimed that “Uttar Pradesh is the first state in the country which has posted women beat police officers in every gram panchayat. Also, maximum action was taken in e-prosecution. Anti Romeo squads and women help desks are already established in 1535 police stations in Uttar Pradesh. ,
Presenting comparative figures, Yogi claimed that between 2007 and 2012, there were 364 incidents of riots during the ruling BSP government. Between 2012 and 2017, there were more than 700 incidents of major riots during the SP regime in which many people were killed. Since the formation of the BJP government in the year 2017, there has not been a single riot nor any terrorist incident in the state. ,
The Chief Minister said that if we compare the year 2016-17 with 2020-2021, then according to the data of National Crime Records Bureau, there has been a decrease in the cases of crime. He said that during his reign 155 dreaded criminals were killed and 3,638 were injured in encounters with the police. In these actions 13 police personnel were martyred while 1236 were injured. During this, 48038 accused were arrested under the Gangster Act and action was taken against 694 criminals under the National Security Act. ,
Yogi said that his government, through the Anti-Land Mafia Task Force, freed 66 thousand hectares of land from the land mafia and opened public institutions, medical colleges, establishment of universities, defense corridors as well as an investment in the state. It has also succeeded in making “Land Bank”.
