Wardha. The case of cheating a woman with Rs 1 lakh 76 thousand in the name of cashback by recharging her mobile through PhonePe has come to light in Socialist Chowk of the city. In the case, on the complaint of the woman, the city police registered a case against Avinash Sharma under the IT Act.
Hema Jayendra Shah (45), a resident of Socialist Chowk, was present at her brother Kiran Sarodaya’s house at 1.30 pm on January 25. He did a mobile recharge of Rs 719 through PhonePe. At that time, there was a balance of 1 lakh 76 thousand 525 rupees in his account. After some time, 9337901037 got a call on his mobile from this number.
The said person stating his name as Avinash Sharma said that I am talking to the company on the phone. You have recharged your phone with Pay, due to which you are getting a cashback of Rs 4,000 from the company. For this, asked to open an account in mobile. After some time, Rs 1 lakh was debited from her Indian Bank, Gujarat account, about which the woman called Avinash Sharma.
Complaint filed on the matter of fraud
He told that after some time your money will be deposited in the account again. On the second day on January 26, at 8.30 am, Avinash Sharma called and asked to deposit Rs 1 lakh and cashback of Rs 4,000, for which he asked to open the phone pe app. As soon as the woman opened the phone, the remaining Rs 76 thousand was also withdrawn from her account, after which the said accused did not get the call, due to which the woman came to notice that the fraud was happening.
In the case, the said person blew 1 lakh 76 thousand rupees from the woman’s account. On the complaint of the woman in the case, the police registered a case against the accused Avinash Sharma.
