Due to the disappointing performance of South Africa’s batsmen in the first match played in Centurion of the three-match Test series, South Africa (India vs South Africa Test Series, 2021-2022) got a tremendous wash from Viratsena in their stronghold and lost. Had to see his face. But, after the defeat, South Africa captain Dean Elgar said that his team will not lack in confidence when they take the field against India in the second Test match of the series to be played in Johannesburg.
It is worth noting that in this match, the sharp bowlers of Indian bowlers like Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Siraj broke the back of South Africa. Due to which the entire team of captain Dean Elgar was bundled out for 197 and 191 runs in both the innings. India won the first Test match played in Centurion by 113 runs under the leadership of captain Virat Kohli.

South Africa captain Dean Elgar (Dean Elgar Captain South Africa Test Series) said in the press conference, “I do not think that the morale of our team will be low in the Johannesburg Test Match (India vs South Africa Second Test Match, Johannesburg). Losing a match is never good, especially when we know where we went wrong. It is difficult to correct those mistakes during the match. We are hopeful that we will have some time on our hands for the second Test at the Wanderers (Johannesburg ground) in which we can review our performance.
The history of Test cricket shows that the match played at Centurion was the first Test match for South Africa in the last 6 months. South Africa team has played only 6 Test matches under the captaincy of Dean Elgar Captain South Africa. Dean Elgar won the Test series against West Indies 2-0 after being made the regular captain of the team.
Captain Elgar said, “I don’t think it (India’s defeat at Centurion ground) will demoralize us. We have done well in the last 6 months. So we have to play with the kind of energy that we have. Of course we will review our performance. We will definitely be back.”
He said, “India had scored more than 300 runs in their first innings. India also won the toss. India’s first innings runs cost us the rest of the four days of this match. If you take only 3 wickets on the first day, it will obviously cost you dearly.”
Significantly, for the first time, Team India created history by winning the Centurion ground. While this is only the second defeat for South Africa in 26 international Test matches played at this ground so far. South Africa captain Dean Elgar (Dean Elgar Captain South Africa Test Series) said that his team will have to be careful with the bowling of Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah in the next matches, who have teamed up at Centurion’s ground. Took 13 wickets in both the innings. “Of course, Shami troubled our right-arm batsmen. Bumrah is always full of energy. We have to be careful with both. His bowling is quite balanced. Siraj (Mohammad Siraj) is also a fine bowler, but our team needs to be more careful than the seasoned bowlers Shami and Bumrah.
