New Delhi, Union Minister Anurag Thakur on Wednesday hit out at Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) president Jayant Chaudhary, alleging that he has insulted women by disrespecting BJP MP Hema Malini.
Addressing a rally in Mathura on Tuesday, Chowdhury had alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was trying to sabotage one of their candidates in the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections and cited Malini, the Lok Sabha MP from the district. .
“They said Yogesh join our party and we will make you Hema Malini and I don’t know what kind of things they are saying for me too. They have no love or affection for us. I want to say what you will get by making me happy, I don’t want to be Hema Malini.”

Malini is yet to respond to the RLD chief’s remarks, though BJP leader Thakur criticized Chowdhury and said he should apologise. Thakur said in a tweet, “Jayant ji, Hema Malini ji is one of the finest politician and actress in the country. Indian women are the epitome of empowerment, by taking a jibe at them you are insulting the countless women who are trying to make their mark.”
Thakur said, “Jayant ji, you will have to work very hard to become Hema Malini. People rejected you and chose Hemaji, then it was on his ability to connect with him, on his work. Jayant you should apologise.” (agency)
