Yes, a recently filed RTI has revealed that according to the data, more people have died due to corona than heart attack, kidney failure and cancer in the city. In the year 2020, there were 1.1 lakh deaths, out of which 11,105 i.e. 10% of the people died due to corona.
At the same time, according to the figures, 8,576 people lost their lives due to cancer. Which is 7.6% of the total figure. At the same time, 5,633 people have died due to heart attack. Apart from this, 1,634 people have lost their lives due to kidney failure. Also, it was revealed in RTI that death certificates issued by BMC had revealed that there has been a decline of up to 35% in deaths due to heart attack.
At the same time, after the epidemic, corona became the main cause of death of people in the year 2020. At the same time, it was also revealed in this report that for the first time in the last decade, it has been seen that the death toll due to fire has been recorded within 100.
Along with this, there has also been a sharp decline in the death toll due to head injury. Here in the year 2019, where this figure was 1000, in the year 2020 this figure came down to 760. Not only this, there has also been a significant decline in the number of people who died of TB in the city. In the year 2020, this figure was 3719 while in the year 2018 and 2019 it was only 4940 and 4899 respectively.
After these figures, Dr. Shripad Banawali said that the death toll from cancer has increased during the pandemic. He also said that, “Many patients could not even complete their treatment due to the pandemic. At the same time, people from outside also often come to Mumbai for treatment. On his death, he also gets the death certificate from here. But due to the lockdown, there was only a decrease in the admission of such cases in the hospital. ,
