24 hours supply will be arranged
The Yogi government of the state is going to take this step on the basis of the feedback received from the public after the improvement in power supply. At present, the roster of power supply is applicable for 18 hours in all villages, 24 hours at major cities and district headquarters and 20-22 hours at tehsil headquarters. After getting better feedback from the public regarding the provision of electricity, now 24 hours supply will be arranged by eliminating the cut roster for three months.
Rarely have to be purchased from Energy Exchange
At present, Uttar Pradesh rarely has to buy electricity from the energy exchange due to its own generation power generation and increased availability on the grid. Corporation officials say that in the event of order for 24-hour power supply, at present cheap electricity is also available on the energy exchange, due to which there will not be much economic burden. Apart from this, even after signing an agreement for at least three months, electricity will be available at cheaper rates. The state government plans to supply 24 hours electricity to all villages and cities from the first week of January.
The demand for electricity in the state will come down to less than 15000 MW.
Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) officials said that with the onset of winter in December, the demand for electricity has come down significantly, which will further decrease in the coming days. In the summer of this year, the restricted demand of electricity in the state had exceeded 21000 MW, whereas in November it has come down to around 15000 MW. Corporation officials believe that in the event of a decrease in temperature in January, the demand for electricity in the state will come down to less than 15,000 MW. This time due to increase in demand and less supply of coal during the rainy months, the state government had to buy very expensive power from the energy exchange. Even after all this, there were problems in supplying electricity according to the roster in the state.
