Mumbai: The work of Mumbai Metro Line 2A between the western suburb Dahisar and DN Nagar is in the final stages. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority has approved the construction of 18.5 km of Metro 2A. The track surface of the line has been completed. Track laying work is going on on DN Nagar-Link Road-Dahisar route. With this, MMRDA will beautify Metro Line 2A between Dahisar and DN Nagar at a cost of Rs 11.81 crore.
The proposed project is divided into two parts, the first being between Dahisar and Dahanurkarwadi. Beautification work will be done in the middle of the corridor along the link road below the metro line. The estimated cost of the first section is estimated to be around Rs 5.24 crore, while the remaining section between Dahanurkarwadi and DN Nagar will cost Rs 6.56 crore. According to MMRDA, the contract period for carrying out the above work will be of 16 months (4 months for development and 12 months for maintenance). Interested agencies can submit the tender by 3 January 2022.

Preparing to open in 2022
According to MMRDA officials, the first phase of Metro 2A was targeted to be opened by December this year, but may take some more time. By the way, before the BMC elections to be held in February 2022, the Uddhav government wants to open the first phase of this metro. The Metro 2A project is divided into two phases. The target is to start the service between Dahanurkarwadi-Dahisar to Aarey metro station by January.
Trial on
The trial run of the first phase of Metro Line 2A and 7 with a project of 12 thousand crores is going on. Although MMRDA was supposed to start operations on this section in December 2020, the work got affected due to COVID, lockdown and other reasons. Civil works of metro stations are in progress.
