The Government of Australia has made a provision to impose a fine of $ 66,600 (about 50 lakh rupees) and a five-year jail sentence on the passengers coming from India.

    Token picture.

The government of Australia has become very strict about the passengers coming from India. The government will make a provision for imposing penalty and jail like punishment for anyone trying to return home from India. The country’s treasurer Josh Friedenberg defended the move as harsh, but said it needed to be brought. Let us know that the government of Prime Minister Scott Morrison has already put a ban on direct flights coming from India.

This step has been taken by the government because recently two Australian cricketers reached the country on Thursday. In view of the ban on direct flights coming from India, these two cricketers first traveled to Qatar. Then flew to Australia from there. Health Minister Greg Hunt announced on Friday night that he was tightening border controls. He said that whoever tries to break this rule, he will be fined $ 66,600 (about Rs 50 lakh) or will be sentenced to five years in jail, or he may have to face both.

New rules will be implemented from Monday

The Health Minister said that the government does not take such decisions lightly. However, it is important for the health of the Australian people. The quarantine system is completely secure and COVID-19 cases in the quarantine facility are at a manageable level. The new rules will come into effect from Monday and will be reviewed on 15 May. Hunt enforced the new rules through the powers conferred under the Biosciences Act. The boundaries were also closed through this act.

Drastic steps taken to save Australians

Treasurer Josh Friedenberg on Saturday morning denied that it is irresponsible to leave Australian citizens there in such a dangerous situation when there is a shortage of oxygen in India. Friedenberg said that we have taken drastic steps to save Australians. The situation in India is very frightening. We have taken this step after seeking medical advice. He said, the situation in India is critical. This is very serious. More than 2,00,000 people have died and more than 300,000 new cases are coming up in a day.
