The Indian Army has sought assistance from the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of China to locate and return a missing boy, Miram Taron, as per established protocol. PTI gave this information quoting defense sources. In addition, the Army has also established a hotline connection with the PLA.
Arunachal Pradesh MP Tapir Gao said on Wednesday that the PLA kidnapped a 17-year-old boy from Indian territory in the state’s Upper Siang district on Tuesday. Defense establishment sources said on Thursday that when the Indian Army received information about Taron’s disappearance, it immediately contacted the PLA via a hotline to inform that a boy who went out to collect herbs had lost his way and his Don’t know.
Sources said assistance has been sought from the PLA to trace the juvenile in their area and return him as per the established protocol. The village said on Wednesday that the incident took place near the point from where the Tsangpo river enters India in Arunachal Pradesh. Tsangpo is called Siang in Arunachal Pradesh and Brahmaputra in Assam.

The MP also said that he has informed Union Minister of State for Home Nishith Pramanik about the incident and requested him to take necessary action in this regard.

On the other hand, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi tweeted on this issue and said that India stands with the family of the youth. He tweeted, “A few days before Republic Day, a fortune maker of India has been kidnapped by China – we are with the family of Miram Tarun and will not give up hope, will not give up. PM’s speechless silence is his statement- They don’t care!”
In September 2020, the PLA kidnapped five youths from Upper Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh and released them after about a week.
The latest incident comes at a time when the Indian Army is in a standoff with the PLA in eastern Ladakh since April 2020. To resolve the standoff, 14 rounds of military-level talks have been held between India and China. After several rounds of talks, the withdrawal of troops from some of the standoff sites was done but the process of withdrawal of troops from Hot Springs, Depsang and Demchok areas in eastern Ladakh is yet to be done.
