Additional expenditure of 11 and a half crores approved
Under the AMRUT scheme of the central government, the project of 24-hour water supply in 60 percent of the city is being implemented in four tender packages. Under this project, work is being done to increase the pressure of the aqueduct, build a high water tank, add new pipes and reduce the leakage of water. The cost of the project has gone up more than the estimated amount due to various reasons. These include change in geographical conditions, leakages in waterways, frequent complaints about water supply, breaking of canals during excavation during development works, increased rates of works. Therefore, Rs 11 crore 53 lakh will be spent more than the prescribed amount on this expenditure. The Standing Committee also approved the increase.
