ChandigarhAam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal said on Wednesday that the party’s chief ministerial candidate for the Punjab Assembly elections will be announced next week. He also hit out at the Charanjit Singh Channi-led Punjab government over the law and order situation in the state and said, “There will be justice in all incidents of sacrilege and the guilty will be punished severely.”
After reaching here, Kejriwal told reporters at the airport that whether it is a matter of Prime Minister’s security or common man’s security…it should be ensured. On the issue of elections, he said, “The chief ministerial face will be announced next week.” The Aam Aadmi Party’s national convener had announced last year that the party’s chief ministerial candidate for the 2022 Punjab Assembly elections would be from the Sikh community.
Polling for the Punjab Assembly elections will be held on February 14, while the counting of votes will be done on March 10. The Delhi Chief Minister also criticized the Congress and the Badal family for allegedly looting the state for the past several years. “The alliance between the Congress and the Badal family has been going on for the last several years. Both Congress and Badal family have been looting Punjab. Now it will end. There will be prosperity in Punjab and good times are ahead for Punjab.”

Hitting out at the Charanjit Singh Channi-led government over the law and order situation in the state, Kejriwal referred to incidents like recent bomb blasts, incidents of sacrilege and security lapse of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He alleged, “Law and order is deteriorating. The Channi government could not handle the situation.”
Significantly, on January 5, in Punjab, the Prime Minister’s convoy was stuck on a flyover due to the blockade by the protesters. Thereafter he returned to Delhi from Punjab without attending any program including a rally. Kejriwal said that law and order will be ensured when the AAP government is formed after the upcoming elections. “There will be peace all around,” he said.
