Pimpri: In Pimpri-Chinchwad city, the number of patients increased in the third wave of Corona. However, the proportion of patients with symptoms is very small. 80 to 85 percent of the patients are getting cured at home. Therefore, in the third wave, there was no need for Jumbo Covid Hospital. Now that the third wave of Corona has stopped. As a result, the Jumbo COVID Hospital on the grounds of Annasaheb Magar Stadium in Pimpri Nehru Nagar has been permanently closed. The contractor operating this hospital has been instructed to remove the material.
Corona infection started on March 10, 2020 in Pimpri-Chinchwad city. Three patients admitted on this day and the patients found after that were treated at the YCM Hospital of the Municipal Corporation. A separate room was started for this. However, as the number of patients increased, so did the need for more beds and oxygen. The patients were admitted to the new Bhosari of the Municipal Corporation and the new Jijamata Hospitals of Pimpri. However, due to paucity of beds, the district administration, PMRDA and the Municipal Corporation set up an 800-bedded jumbo hospital in the grounds of Annasaheb Magar Stadium in Nehru Nagar. There was no special need in the third wave
After this the Municipal Corporation started a 200 bedded Jumbo Hospital in Auto Cluster in collaboration with a private organization. Since then, three waves of COVID have come and gone. After the second wave stopped, both the hospitals were closed for treatment. This time instead of PMRDA, the Municipal Corporation entered into an agreement with a private company to take control of Nehru Nagar Jumbo Hospital. However, here the treatment was stopped. The rent was paid for only three months. The third wave of Corona came in December 2021. Therefore, the concerned institution was given an extension of two months. Some patients were treated at Jumbo Hospital by opening YCM for other patients. It was not much needed in the third wave.
Contractor asked to remove tents and other material
Now the third wave has stopped and the number of patients has come down to 50. Apart from this, new Jijamata, New Thergaon, Akurdi in New Bhosari, Koote hospitals have been started at full capacity. Therefore, Nehru Nagar Jumbo COVID Hospital has been permanently closed from March 1. The contractor concerned has been asked to remove the tents and other material involved in the construction of the hospital. Nehru Nagar’s Jumbo COVID Hospital had 800 beds. Of these, 600 beds were for oxygen and 200 beds for ICU and ventilator. All these beds have been made available to the New Jijamata, New Thergaon, New Bhosari and Koote hospitals of the Municipal Corporation as per their capacity. The oxygen generation project set up in the Jumbo Hospital complex will also be shifted to another hospital complex. Along with this, oxygen production plants have been set up in all the four hospitals.
