Armori, Security rallying of Wainganga river culvert adjacent to Armori Tehsil Headquarters, flowing in the flood, was expected to cause an accident due to lack of security rallying on this culvert.
In view of this, political and social organizations of Armori city had started an indefinite movement on the culvert for the last 6 days for the main demand of security rallying on the culvert. But even after a period of 6 days, due to the lack of serious attention by the administration, the angry agitators tried to get the attention of the administration on Tuesday by holding a movement in the main square of Armori city.
The Gadchiroli-Nagpur National Highway traffic was affected for about two hours due to the Chakkajam movement. In this movement, CPI(M) leader Amol Markwar, Prahar Janshakti Party’s Nikhil Dharmik, Yuvarang President Rahul Juare, MNS District Vice President Ranjit Bane, Shiv Sena Tehsil Chief Mahendra Shende, District Organiser Raju Ambani, Vrikshavalli Wildlife Conservation Society President Devanand Dumane, Sanjay Wakde, Praful Khapre, Councilor Sindhu Kapkar, Shubhangi Garade, Minal Bansod and office bearers of various political parties and social organizations were present.
Arrest and release of agitators
Even after the movement continued for the last 6 days, it was being ignored by the National Highways Department and the district administration. Due to which the angry agitators decided to organize a movement in Armori on Tuesday. Due to which the agitators started the Chakkajam movement in the afternoon.
Due to which the traffic on the main road was affected for about two hours. At the same time, the agitators banned the burning of tires, shouting slogans against the National Highway Department. Meanwhile, the police reached the spot and arrested all the agitators. There all were later released.
Attention was made by doing water agitation
Even before this, the agitators had organized a water movement in the Wainganga river to get the attention of the national highway and district administration. But the concerned department and district administration did not take serious cognizance of the movement. During the agitation, the MLA of Armori constituency, Krishna Gajabe, visited the site of agitation and sought answers from the officials of the concerned department. Even after this, there was intense resentment among the agitators as no action was taken.
Construction will start from February 23
In this context, an official of National Highways Department, Nagpur said that till now funds were not available for the construction of the said culvert. But now the funds have become available. There is a delay for some government process. But by February 23, work on the culvert will be started. Such information has been given by the concerned officer.
