Nagpur. On the one hand, while people were harassed by Corona in the state, on the other hand dengue and malaria also troubled them. But the entire machinery being engaged in the prevention and treatment of the corona epidemic ignored other infectious diseases. 19,000 malaria patients were found in the state. 12,721 dengue patients were registered. Nagpur division is at the fore in the number of dengue patients in the state. The maximum number of 3,628 dengue patients were found in East Vidarbha and 24 people have died. This disclosure came from the information sought by RTI activist Abhay Kolarkar under the Right to Information Act.
The death toll from dengue has also quadrupled as compared to last year. There were 10 deaths in the state in 2020 and 40 dengue in 2021. In the year 2019, 14,888 dengue patients were found in the state. Of these, 49 patients died during treatment. The number of dengue patients decreased during the Corona period in 2020. During that time, 3,356 patients were found during the year. Out of these, 10 patients died, but then in 2021, four times 12,721 patients were found in the state compared to 2020. Dengue killed 40 people. Of the total patients in the state in 2021, 28.51 percent or 3,628 patients are from Nagpur division and 60 percent or 24 deaths are from eastern Vidarbha.
37,829 elephantiasis patients
In 2019, 8,866 malaria patients were found in the state. Of these, 7 patients had died. In 2020, 12,909 patients were found, out of which 12 died. In 2021, 19,298 patients were found, out of which 8 died. There were 1,646 cases of Chikungunya in 2019, 782 in 2020 and 2,479 in 2021. None of these died. Similarly, 50,493 cases of elephantiasis were reported in 2019, 43,187 in 2020 and 37,829 in 2021.
