Unnao/Rae Bareilly: Claiming that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government in Uttar Pradesh did not provide post-poll ration, Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday said that if his government is formed, the poor will be given freebies for five years. Apart from ration, one kilogram of ghee will also be given to improve health.
Addressing public meetings organized in support of SP candidates in Rae Bareli and Unnao, Akhilesh Yadav said, “The ration that the poor are getting at this time is going to be available only till the elections. It will not be available after the election. Earlier it was to be given by November, but when the Uttar Pradesh elections were announced, he said that free ration would be available till March. Ration money has not been kept in Delhi’s budget, because he knows that the election will end in March.” The SP chief said, “The socialists had given ration earlier also. As long as there is a SP government, we will give ration to our poor. Along with this, we will also give two cylinders along with mustard oil in a year and one kilogram of ghee will also be given to the poor to improve their health.

Pointing to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, he said, “The SP is moving ahead from the first phase and the supporters of those who were saying that they will remove the heat have become cold in the first phase. Coming to the second phase, the kind of votes that have been cast, their workers have gone numb.” Yadav said that now when the people of Unnao cast their votes, the BJP’s account will not open here. According to a release issued from the SP headquarters, Akhilesh Yadav, while addressing the public meetings in Rae Bareli, Unnao, Fatehpur and Kanpur, said that the people of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) have deviated from the path of Baba Saheb (Bhimrao Ambedkar).
He said, “Congress, BSP government is not to be formed, don’t fall for them. This time account of any other party will not be opened. The wind in the first two phases is in favor of SP.” Earlier in the Rae Bareli meeting, Yadav said that the quality of ration being distributed by the BJP government was poor and there were also reports of glass particles found in the salt. He asked if salt was not coming from Gujarat. He said that there are 11 lakh government vacancies in Uttar Pradesh and the SP government will give employment to the youth by filling those posts.
Yadav said, “BJP leaders were going door-to-door asking for votes. His senior leaders were distributing pamphlets… but now that campaign has stopped because when he visited some villages, people showed him empty gas cylinders. From the day people showed empty cylinders, door-to-door campaigning of BJP leaders stopped. Attacking the state government, the SP chief said that the law and order situation has collapsed under the BJP government.
He alleged, “The maximum number of custodial deaths have happened during the BJP government. Corruption has also doubled in this double engine government.” The SP president also appealed to the voters to vote in favor of Samajwadi Party candidates of Rae Bareli. Rae Bareli and Unnao will go to polls in the fourth phase on February 23.
