Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday promised to restore the discontinued old pension of state employees and to reintroduce Yash Bharti award if the party comes to power in the upcoming assembly elections. On the question of another relative joining the BJP after his younger brother Prateek’s wife Aparna Yadav, Akhilesh took a jibe at him and said, “The BJP is at least destroying our familism, thank you for it.”
Yadav said in a press conference on Thursday, “The Samajwadi Party has decided that after the formation of the Samajwadi government in Uttar Pradesh, the old pension system will be restored. This thing will be included in the election manifesto of the Samajwadi Party. He also said that the ‘Yashbharti Samman’ would be reinstated when the SP and its allies came to power.
The SP leader said that ‘Nagar-Bharati’ award letters will be given to outstanding social workers, litterateurs, journalists, artists, sportspersons and entrepreneurs and professionals who create jobs and jobs in the cities. It is to be known that the teachers, employees and officers appointed in government service were given monthly pension for their living on retirement.
The then Bharatiya Janata Party government at the Center had made rules, on the basis of which the scheme of monthly pension of teachers and employees appointed after April 2005 was abolished. Akhilesh said that the Samajwadi Party has decided to restore the old pension scheme in its election manifesto after consultations with employee leaders and those with financial knowledge.
He said, “I announce today that the old pension system will be restored as soon as the Samajwadi government is formed. Whatever amount is required in this will be arranged. Apart from this, arrangements will also be made for cashless treatment for the employees. Along with this, respectable amount will be provided to the unfinished teachers.
Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh State Employees Joint Council President JN Tiwari told ‘Bhasha’ that at present (after 2005) about 10 lakh teachers and employees are working in the state, who are not getting the benefit of old pension.

On the question of contractual employees, Akhilesh said, “Through outsources, the rights and respect given by Baba Bhimrao Ambedkar under the Constitution is being snatched away. Samajwadi Party is considering this and the manner in which it will decide will be announced in the election manifesto of the Samajwadi Party.
He alleged that the reservation given by the Constitution was being abolished through privatization. The SP president alleged, “The Bharatiya Janata Party and those people who do not want to give reservation to our poor and downtrodden are implementing this system. The Bharatiya Janata Party is selling everything and if it remains in the government, one day it will ‘outsource’ it to the government itself.”
On the question of Aparna Yadav joining BJP on Wednesday and Pramod Gupta on Thursday and familyism, Yadav said in a sarcastic tone, “Bharatiya Janata Party which accuses us of familyism. She is at least ending our familism, I thank her for that.”
On Thursday, former Samajwadi Party MLA from Vidhuna Pramod Gupta joined the BJP. Pramod is said to be the relative of Mulayam Singh Yadav’s second wife Sadhna Gupta.
Akhilesh said that the way leaders with wide support base have parted ways from BJP and leaders like Swami Prasad Maurya and Dara Singh Chouhan have joined SP and the way SP has brought various parties together, BJP lost this battle. And the SP has gone a long way.
