Pune: Keeping in mind the upcoming Municipal Elections, the Municipal Corporation has given good news to the employees of PMPML. The 7th Pay Commission has finally been approved for the 11,000 employees of PMPML. According to this, the Pune Municipal Corporation will have to spend Rs 6 crore a month and Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation Rs 4 crore every month to pay the increased salary.
These employees will be given the difference of increment in the next five years. For this, 261 crore 76 lakh of Pune Municipal Corporation’s share will be given in equal installments over the next five years. Chairman of the Standing Committee Hemant Rasne gave this information.

From the year 2013-14, 60% is being given from the share of the Municipal Corporation for the operation of the PMPML organization. According to this, every month from the last financial year Rs 20 crore is being given by PMPML. The income of PMPML has decreased due to Corona. This has caused huge economic losses. The Pune Municipal Corporation had asked for an additional fund of Rs.
90 lakh loss
On the other hand, the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board has imposed a penalty of Rs 90 lakh on the Municipal Corporation due to pollution of polluted rivers of Pune. The Municipal Corporation will compensate this amount from the tax deposited by the residents of Pune. In such a situation, the tax money of the residents of Pune will be wasted on the pollution caused by the dirty water of the Municipal Corporation.
Municipal corporation responsible for river pollution
The water for domestic and commercial use in the city is not processed and it is released directly into the river. The level of pollution has increased due to this water. The increasing pollution in the river is posing a serious threat to the health of the citizens. Water hyacinths are growing in rivers. 40 per cent of the city’s water is released into the river without any process. The Maharashtra Pollution Board has imposed a penalty of Rs 10 lakh per month from April 2021 onwards. The Urban Development Department has also given a letter to transfer this amount from the account of the Municipal Corporation to the Board. During these 9 months from April 2021 to January 2022, the Municipal Corporation has been charged a penalty of Rs 90 lakh per month at the rate of ten lakhs. The board has said that the penalty will be recovered further.
