Mumbai: North Central Railway has done remarkable work in the development and expansion of railway routes in 2021-22. During this, good maneuverability and punctuality have been ensured along with speeding up of track doubling, tripling and quadrupling. Infrastructure work has accelerated under the able guidance of NCR GM Pramod Kumar. Due to this, North Central Railway has achieved 80.48 percent punctuality in 2021-22.
2021-22 has been a year of achievements for North Central Railway. In these works 51.2 km doubling work was done. This includes doubling of various sections of Kanpur-Veerangana Laxmibai road. Doubling of Kanpur-Veerangana Laxmibai section will be completed in 2022. Under this doubling project, the doubling work of 17 km from Bhimsen to Pama is targeted to be completed in April itself. In the year 2021-22, the triple work of 71.89 km was completed. It includes Dholpur to Bhandai section of Agra, Jhansi and Prayagraj divisions, Veerangana Lakshmibai to Babina and Naini to Prayagraj Chhioki section respectively.

It is also planned to complete the 28 km tripling work from Lalitpur to Bijrautha in April itself. This work is a part of Jhansi-Bina third line project. The work of 28.04 km widening between Chhatta-Azhai-Vrindavan-Bhuteshwar of Agra division has also been completed this year. With this, the entire 80 km project of Mathura-Palwal fourth line was completed in 2021-22. In April 2022, the fourth line is also planned to be commissioned between Bhaupur and Panki (10.245 km) of Prayagraj division. In addition, 18 new Foot Over Bridges were constructed and 46 Foot Over Bridges were improved during the year at various stations of North Central Railway. In this sequence 8 new Road Over Bridges (ROBs) were commissioned and 46 new Road Under Bridges (RUBs) were completed in 2021-22.

For the convenience of the passengers, cover over platform facility has been provided at 8 stations of North Central Railway and platform extension work has been completed at 21 stations of North Central Railway. With the expansion of infrastructure, the mobility of North Central Railway is also increasing. The punctuality of coaching trains in North Central Railway has improved significantly over the years due to the combined effect of well-planned operational management and expansion of infrastructure. In 2017-18, where the punctuality of coaching trains in North Central Railway was around 52%, now the punctuality of North Central Railway is 80.48%. Although as per the data, punctuality in 2020-21 was 86.92% but considering the fact that very few trains were operating during that time due to covid.

Pramod Kumar, General Manager, North Central Railway, says that mobility cannot be improved unless structural constraints are removed and capacity expansion is done to meet the growing demand. He also said that it is important that the field officers work hard to complete the infrastructure projects, while executing them on time. GM Kumar further said that it is the responsibility of the officers to make timely visionary plans for future requirements.
