Being infected with the coronavirus (COVID-19) with even mild or mild symptoms can affect a man’s ability to have a child. According to an IIT-Bombay study, even mild or moderate levels of corona virus infection can alter the levels of proteins associated with the reproductive system of men, which may affect their ability to have children.
The study by researchers from IIT-Bombay was published last week in the journal ‘ACS Omega’ and was also participated by researchers from Mumbai’s Jaslok Hospital. For this study, the researchers examined and analyzed the protein levels in the semen of men who had recovered from the corona.
According to researchers, corona infection is caused by the SARS-COV-2 virus. This virus mainly affects the respiratory system in the human body. However, apart from this, side effects of corona virus have been seen in other parts of the body so far.

An IIT-Bombay study has now indicated that the corona virus can reduce the fertility of men and this virus has been found in the male reproductive organs. The researchers were actually trying to find out whether the corona virus could have any effect on the reproductive system of men in the long term.
How did the researchers find out?
Researchers examined protein levels in the semen of 10 healthy men. Then compared the protein level of semen of 17 men who had recently recovered from mild or moderate corona infection. All these men were 20 to 45 years old and none of them had any prior fertility problems.
decreased sperm count
Researchers found that men who had recovered from corona had significantly reduced sperm count and had fewer normal-sized spermatozoa. Researchers found that changes were also seen in the level of protein in the semen of men who had recovered from the corona virus.
