Roslindale residents confirmed out to cheer on their neighborhood parade Sunday, lining the streets all through a ravishing fall afternoon.
“I’ve lived here for over 20 years, and it is really a beautiful community,” stated neighborhood member Jackie Diaz, as a troupe of dancing ladies in gold got here down Belgrade Avenue.
The annual Thomas M. Donahue Roslindale Day Parade — named for the previous president of the parade committee and neighborhood champion who died in 2021 — kicked off at 1 p.m. Sunday on South Street and looped up by the Roslindale Village space to finish at Robert Street.
The almost 50-year-old parade featured a lot of native enterprise, organizations, teams and figures, together with Roslindale-resident Mayor Michelle Wu main the road, Miss Roslindale Britt High, marching bands, dancers, metropolis council candidates, and extra.
“We couldn’t have asked for a better day for this,” stated native Dave Lowey, remarking on the nice and cozy, sunny fall day. “Seems like people really came out this year.”
People pulled out chairs and sat alongside the curbs and partitions all through the route, dancing alongside to wide-ranging music and clapping for the performers.
“I love it,” stated 9-year-old Sadie, holding a TCB pumpkin bag of sweet. “We should do this more.”
