Amravati. The voting process was held on Tuesday for Tivasa and Bhatkuli Nagar Panchayats of the district. The voter turnout was 70.70 percent in Tivasa Nagar Panchayat and 81.61 percent in Bhatkuli. The fate of 62 candidates in 14 seats of Tivasa Nagar Panchayat and 60 in 16 seats of Bhatkuli has been imprisoned in the EVMs. The counting of votes for the Nagar Panchayat elections will be held on January 19.

Voting began at 7 am in Tivasa and Bhatkuli. Voters did not come out to vote due to severe cold in the morning, due to which there was less crowd at polling stations in the morning. But, after 10 in the morning the crowd started increasing. Voters queued up at polling stations in the afternoon. In Tivasa Nagar Panchayat till 3.30 pm, 52.13 percent voter turnout was recorded and Bhatkuli had 67.48 percent voting. In Bhatkuli, the polling increased by 14 per cent in the last two hours to 81.61 per cent till 5.30 pm.
There are total 6426 voters in Bhatkuli Nagar Panchayat, out of which 3293 are male voters and 3133 are female voters. Of these, 2752 men and 2492 women, thus a total of 5244 voters have exercised their franchise. There are 4812 male and 4872 female voters in Tivasa Nagar Panchayat. Out of these, a total of 5048 voters, including 2470 male and 2578 female, exercised their franchise till 3.30 pm. His percentage stood at 52.13.

58.51 percent voting in village by-election
In the voting process held on Tuesday, 58.51 percent voting was held till 3.30 pm under the by-elections of 32 vacant seats in 30 divisions of 27 grampanchayats of the district. The voting was held for vacant member posts of Gram Panchayats of tehsils like Amravati, Anjangaon Surji, Bhatkuli, Nandgaon Khandeshwar, Daryapur, Achalpur, Chandur Bazar, Warud, Dharani, Chikhaldara and Chandur Railway etc. Counting of votes will begin on Wednesday, December 22 at 10 am in the respective tehsil office.
