Pimpri: Rajendra Chothe, a 61-year-old cyclist from Pimpri-Chinchwad, took a unique initiative to raise awareness about rising pollution, its adverse effects on human health and the degradation of nature. He reached Chinchwad on Friday after completing the 6,000-km Pune-Nepal journey alone. Here he was welcomed by the Empire Estate Friends Circle and various other organizations. Rajendra Chothe said that he has implemented this scheme to protect the environment.
Rajendra Chothe started his journey on 22nd February from Empire Estate, Chinchwad. He reached Nepal via Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. After this he returned to Maharashtra via Nepal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh. Meanwhile, Nashik Trimbakeshwar, Kashi Vishwanath, Ujjain Mahakaleshwar, Omkareshwar, Ghrishneshwar Jyotirlinga as well as Ayodhya, Sitamarhi religious places as well as Baba Amte’s Hemalkasa, International Buddhist pilgrimage Kapilvastu, Lumbini, Ajanta Verul, Khajuro Temple, Prayagraj, Kushinagar, Visited Shegaon, Sevagram etc.

Cycled 6,000 km in 40 days
Rajendra Chothe cycled 6,000 km in 40 days. He has covered all this journey alone. He is an adventurous cyclist. He was working in Tata Motors for 32 years. While in service, he used to cycle daily at Tata Motors. Tata Motors has retired as Senior Manager. He enjoys cycling. He has so far cycled from Pune to Shirdi, Pune to Goa, Pune to Kanyakumari. He said that we have started this project to protect the environment and protect the environment, everyone should cycle at least five kilometers. Dr. Rajendra Chothe’s daughter-in-law Shwetambri Chothe presented a self-composed poem ‘Ayush Don Chakche’ based on Rajendra Chothe’s Pune-Nepal-Pune cycle journey at the reception.
