Nagpur. The BJP may have been in power in the Municipal Corporation for 15 years, but within a month of the end of the term, the water supply in the city has deteriorated. On Friday, BJP councilors, led by MLA Chandrashekhar Bawankule, knocked at the Municipal Headquarters, alleging that the 24 by 7 scheme that is playing a rant across the country was also divided. Apart from the councilors who had recently completed their tenure, many office bearers and workers also reached the Municipal Corporation. Strong police arrangements were also made at the headquarters due to the prior awareness.
Although some people were allowed to go to the commissioner’s office along with Bawankule, but many outgoing councilors were stopped outside, due to which tension remained in the headquarters for some time. It is said that he expressed his displeasure when the outgoing councilors were also stopped. He believed that any person can come with his problem in the Municipal Corporation. So what is the point of stopping them? The outgoing mayor Dayashankar Tiwari, Prakash Bhoyar, Virendra Kukreja, Ravindra Borkar etc. were included in the delegation.
Bill not sent for 6 months
Submitting a memorandum to the Municipal Commissioner, Bawankule said that the water supply is being done in the same way in the summer, while the water supply should have been increased in the summer. This is the reason that the water crisis is deepening in many parts of the city. Till a month ago, there was smooth water supply in every part of the city, but now suddenly the water supply has been broken.
There is no regular water supply in many settlements. Apart from this, new tap connections were given to some consumers, but even after more than 6 months, they were not billed. Many of those customers are now being billed for a 10-fold increase. Along with this, threats are being given to cut the tap connection for recovery.
Manpa’s coordination deteriorated
Bawankule said that many settlements used to have water supply under the 24 by 7 scheme, but now complaints of water scarcity are being received in these settlements as well. At present, these settlements are not getting water supply for more than 2-3 hours. The coordination of the Municipal Corporation regarding water supply is disturbed.
For immediate measures, all the officers at the zonal level and the officials of the OCW company were sent to the respective areas and demanded to give information about the unbroken water supply. After the discussion, Municipal Commissioner Radhakrishnan B. assured to take immediate measures. The delegation warned of agitation at the zonal level if there is no improvement in water supply.
