Mumbai: The Mahavikas Aghadi Government of the state has taken the decision to remove 156 chemical factories from Dombivli MIDC which are environmentally dangerous. This information was given by Industries Minister Subhash Desai on Wednesday. He informed that in the meeting of Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation, it has been decided to move chemical factories elsewhere.
The people around have to face difficulties due to the foul smell emanating from the chemical factories of Dombivli MIDC. There has been a demand to remove them for a long time. Last year, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray himself had taken stock of the area and directed to survey the dangerous factories and remove them elsewhere. Under which 156 factories were found dangerous.

Industries Minister Subhash Desai said that out of the 156 factories to be shifted, some are very dangerous. With the decision of the government, the dispute that has been going on for a long time has ended. He informed that existing hazardous factories in Dombivli industrial area would be allowed to manufacture commercial, engineering and information technology related products by changing the production. While shifting factories, appropriate decisions regarding workers, environment etc. will be taken by the concerned departments. According to the information received, 156 chemical factories will be shifted to Patalganga area.
